Course overview
This course is suitable for all teaching staff: Teachers, Teaching Assistants, SENCO’s who are looking to improve their knowledge, skills and awareness of handwriting difficulties in children. This course will offer strategies to support with this including information on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and core stability.
Course duration
One half day.
Objectives

To educate mainstream teaching staff on the complexity of handwriting and the foundations required to achieve this skill.
- Highlight causes of difficulties, identify when and why a child is struggling and have the knowledge to offer simple solutions for all children.
- Appreciate the impact of the child’s handwriting difficulties on their academic performance and self-esteem.
- To identify appropriate strategies to support with the development of handwriting skills. Occupational Skills for Health competencies.
